Fully Seasoned Firewood
Our firewood is naturally dried and fully season. Our firewood is seasoned for a minimum of 1 year and is tested using various methods including a fresh cut and a moisture meter. Don't be fooled by others who sell wood right off the splitter.
16" Split Firewood
Feaster Farms firewood is typically cut at 16". This is a standard size that works well for all users who will be handling the firewood and makes for the perfect size for modern fireplaces.
Firewood by the Cord
Feaster Farms firewood is locally sourced. We don't only sell firewood but we also offer tree services. Most of our wood comes from our business but we also work with other local tree services to obtain wood.
Hardwoods Only
Feaster Farms uses only hardwoods for our self service stand and our cords available for purchase. We do have some softwoods that are good for kindling and can be purchased upon request.

Firewood FAQs
At Feaster Farms, we aim to provide not only high-quality firewood but also the knowledge to help you make the best choices for your heating needs. Below are answers to common questions about firewood.
1. What’s the Difference Between a Face Cord and a Full Cord of Wood?
- Face Cord: A face cord is a smaller unit of firewood, typically measuring 4 feet high by 8 feet long and one log deep. The depth of a face cord is determined by the length of the logs, which is usually around 16 inches.
- Full Cord: A full cord, also known as a “cord,” is a much larger quantity of firewood, measuring 4 feet high by 8 feet long and 4 feet deep. It contains three face cords.
Think of a face cord as one stack of wood, while a full cord is three stacks of the same height and width but with greater depth.
2. What is Boiler Wood?
- Boiler Wood: Boiler wood consists of larger, unsplit logs designed for outdoor wood boilers or furnaces. These logs are typically cut to fit the larger fireboxes of boilers, requiring minimal splitting. Boiler wood is ideal for those with outdoor heating systems that burn large quantities of wood efficiently.
3. What is Split Seasoned Wood?
- Split Seasoned Wood: This is firewood that has been split into smaller pieces and dried (or “seasoned”) for at least 6-12 months. Seasoning reduces the moisture content in the wood, making it easier to burn, more efficient, and less smoky. Split seasoned wood is perfect for indoor fireplaces, wood stoves, and campfires.
4. Why is Moisture Content Important in Firewood?
Properly seasoned firewood should have a moisture content of 20% or less.
- Benefits of Low Moisture Content:
- Burns hotter and more efficiently.
- Produces less smoke, reducing creosote buildup in chimneys.
- Easier to ignite, saving you time and effort.
5. How Should I Store Firewood?
- Keep It Dry: Store firewood in a covered area, like a shed or under a tarp, to protect it from rain and snow.
- Off the Ground: Stack the wood on pallets or a rack to prevent moisture from the ground.
- Allow Airflow: Leave space between stacks to promote airflow, which helps the wood continue drying if necessary.
6. What Types of Wood Are Best for Firewood?
- Hardwoods: Woods like Oak, Hickory, and Maple burn hotter and longer, making them ideal for heating.
- Softwoods: Pine and Spruce ignite quickly and are great for starting fires but burn faster and with less heat output.
7. How Much Firewood Do I Need for the Winter?
The amount of firewood depends on your heating needs and the efficiency of your stove or fireplace:
- A typical household might use 2-4 cords of wood for a winter season.
- Outdoor boilers may require significantly more, depending on their usage.
